Club Philosophy

Our Club Philosophy is to ensure swimmers gain technique and skills relevant to their individual stage of development and have fun in doing so. We are a community club that offers access to all levels of swimming, to all abilities and equitably.  We pride ourselves on our relationships that we build and maintain with all our families.

Our Academy session aims to improve technique and begin to introduce competitive swimming through internal competitions e.g. Club Champs. As swimmers reach a suitable level, they are given the opportunity to progress. We recognise that not all will wish to move into this side of the Club's activities but would hope that most swimmers will want to make this natural progression. We are a competitive Club and aim to provide a structured training programme enabling each swimmer to develop to their full potential in pursuit of their aspirations. As with other sports, to achieve means dedication and attendance as often as possible to continue to develop technique and attain skills. At a further stage in development, swimmers can benefit from attending our invitation only session; this is an additional training session aimed at swimmers with aspirations for regional and national competitions.

Goals

Goal setting and evaluation is a key part of our swimming programme and is an open two way process between swimmer and coach. Once children move from the academy to the swim squad section in the club, each swimmer is given individual goals and objectives to work on during each term.  These are constantly reviewed between swimmer and coach and where necessary adjusted.  We believe that the relationship between the swimmer and coach is a key part to an athletes development and provide consistency in our coaching delivery to support this.  Our coaches are highly qualified at both teaching and coaching and take every opportunity to maintain and improve their qualifications by attending courses run by the ASA and other expert providers.

Volunteers

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved. All wishing/willing to assist with the sessions or competitions please speak to any of the coaching staff.
